This spring Climb Magazine have teamed up with Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre to bring you a unique opportunity to master some of climbing’s most valuable skills. Skills that will move your climbing from local crags to the mountain’s imposing cliff faces.

Over three days at the National Mountain Centre you’ll spend time with some of the most experienced and highly qualified instructors in the
UK learning from their experience.

Using a combination of their two indoor climbing walls and various other site-based facilities you’ll spend day one finding out how to make your ropework ‘slicker’ to help you become more efficient on long mountain routes. You’ll absorb countless timesaving top-tips on organising belays, anchors, changeovers and even learn how to retreat from a route ‘with dignity’.

In the evening you have the chance to take advantage of some personal coaching, improving your footwork, body movement, and balance, again focusing on efficiency and how you can use good technique to sustain your climbing on a multi-pitch mountain route.

On day two working in and around the centre you’ll focus on at what you can do if it all goes wrong on a high mountain crag with a close look at self rescue, and escaping the system safely before trying out your new-found skills in a variety of practical scenarios.

On the second evening you’ll benefit from a mountain first aid workshop that will equip you with the essential knowledge to ‘take control’ in the event of an accident.  First aid from the climber’s perspective.

Day three offers you the chance to polish those new ropework and organisational skills as you head out onto the crag for some multi pitch climbing with our climbing coaches helping to iron out the creases as you go.
