Hard New Russian Route in China
Russians Alexander Ruchkin and Mikhail Mikhailov have climbed a new route on an unnamed 6134m face in Sichuan Province China. The pair had intended to climb a mountain called E-Gongga 6618m but were thwarted in their efforts by bad weather. They spied a South facing pillar of rock (Pt 6134m) during a break in the mist noting it was steep enough to not retain snow.
The pair climbed and descended the route alpine style in 6 days. There were large sections of rock climbing though it is not known what level of technical difficulty.
