Melloblocco 2009

The sixth Melloblocco bouldering festival has just finished. Probably the largest climbing festival anywhere, Melloblocco see’s boulderers from around the world converge every year on the Val di Mello in the North of Italy. The granite boulders that litter the valley floor provide some of the highest quality climbing in a beautiful setting.

The 2009 Melloblocco ran from the 7 – 10 May and seems to have been the most successful year so far. 2100 people registered with the festival and more than 6000 people showed up in the valley on one of the days.

Aside from the amazing quality of the climbing in the valley Melloblocco’s success lies in the atmosphere that is generated by so many ‘pysched’ boulderers in one place. The event is non competitive, open to everyone and offers climbers of all levels the chance to climb shoulder to shoulder with some of the world’s best.
