Cliffhanger cancelled

6 July 2012

The Sheffield Festival Cliffhanger scheduled for this weekend 7-8th July have been forced to cancell the event due to weather issues. There are however some events still continuing. Here is the press release from the organisers.

Cliffhanger Cancelled

As many of you will already know (thanks modern grapevine of twitter and facebook) Sheffield City Council have decided to cancel this weekend's Cliffhanger due to the heavy rain.

RatRace have also cancelled the Basecamp so there will be no camping, music or RatRide Sportive or RatRun Trail Race.

The BMC's British Bouldering Championships are still going ahead in the big top marquee.

And those hardy types at South Yorkshire Orienteers are still running their Ultrasprint and Score Course tomorrow - though without the maze.  Anyone's welcome to come along and have a go at the score course.

There are also plans afoot for a music gig in Sheffield this evening with some of the cracking bands who'd been due to play over the weekend.  I'll post details on our facebook page this afternoon.

We're incredibly grateful for all your support in planning and spreading the word about the event and appreciate all the kind messages of support about the decision to cancel.

Ticket holders who bought online will be contacted by RatRace on Monday and Sheffield City Council and Heason Events will be in touch with traders and exhibitors next week.  (Again, we'll keep the website updated with the latest).

Looking ahead and being positive, we're planning a brand new festival in the heart of the Peak District (indoors!) called the Buxton Adventure Festival (20-21 October).  We'll be announcing more details soon.  Watch this space.
