Cho Oyu New Route and Urubko's 14th 8000'er

Russianclimb.com reports that Kazakh climber Denis Urubko has climbed his 14th 8000m peak Cho Oyu via a new route. Urubko and Boris Dedeshko climbed the South West Face alpine style in 4 days, with three days to descend. Their route takes a line slightly to the left of the Polish Pillar on the face. The ascent involved waiting out a storm above 7000m and going two days without food on the descent. Earlier this year Urubko made the first winter ascent of Makalu with Frenchman Simone Moro, also a significant achievement.
