Vixen Tor Access One Step Closer

Climbers and walkers could soon once again have access to Vixen Tor on Dartmoor. Access was stopped in 2003 by the landowner.  Since then there has been a protracted campaign by the BMC and other access bodies to get Vixen Tor re-opened.

A recent decision by Devon Country Council has shown them in favour of creating two footpaths that cross the areas currently blocked by the landowner. Though this does not imply any right to climb at Vixen Tor, by gaining access to the land it is one step closer.

The landowner, Mrs Alford, may however still appeal.
